Traditionally, strapping heads were driven either pneumatically or by standard AC-drives. Both have their limitations and for a real step forward in evolution, we had to replace them. The TITAN E-driven heads utilize modern servo drive technology, sometimes also known as brushless DC-drives.
The servo drives are closed-loop controlled in position, speed and/or inertia resulting in a much higher dynamic and precision compared to any other drive technology.
Based on servo drives, the strapping process is much faster, much more accurate and also more reliable. Accuracy is expressed in a precise positioning of the strap ends and in a precise tensioning of the strap to the exact reference tension force.
Other benefits are less noise emissions and less energy consumption.
The servo drive technology together with a state-of-the-art control system enables a much deeper insight of the strapping process. Positions, speeds and tensions are known exactly now and they are communicated to upper level automation systems.
The reproducibility of the strapping process is taken to the extreme. One cycle is equal to any other within micrometers and milliseconds. Multiple process monitoring functions permanently observe the strapping process and any deviation from the norm is interpreted. Predictive maintenance is taken to perfection.
